Health education of pregnant women is a routine activity during antenatal care visits at Papoli Community health center. It is done to achieve better health for the mothers by influencing behavior change. The Reproductive Health Voucher Program in partnership with Marie Stopes Uganda has encouraged many women to come for Antenatal care visits at the health facility, this has provided a key entry point for a broad range of health promotion and disease prevention services. During health education, the health care service providers at PACODEF talk about important issues affecting the mother’s health and her pregnancy. This is done to promote the health of the women in our care and the health of their babies before and after birth, by educating mothers about the benefits of good nutrition, adequate rest, good hygiene, family planning, exclusive breastfeeding, immunization and other disease prevention measures. Our aim is to develop women’s knowledge of these issues so they can make better informed decisions affecting their pregnancy outcome.
