Provision of Clutches Has Its Time and Target!!

I am grateful to say that our community volunteers are doing their work effectively and precisely to meet the demands of the vulnerable community members in their respective villages. We always share with them the technical approach to always organize planned home visits and communities where the status and the consensus of people can easily be accessed.

Mr. Hitla Alfred

PACODEF village volunteers include V.B.Fs (village based facilitators) V.H.Ts (village health team workers) and the water user committees. Each of the 3 teams has roles to play that see our work well done meaning people realize their potential.

Early this year the chair person of Pakamalung ‘B’ zone came and requested for 2 pairs of clutches from the office. l personally put him to task to explain why he wanted them and for who. His response translated into how he mastered his work of home visits, monitoring and giving status report of his findings. However, in the course of his routine work across his village, he found Mr. Osabalo David and Hitla Alfred; they were unable to walk with the aid of a walking stick either! He really felt sympathetic and said he would report the situation so that the concerned department at PACODEF would act accordingly.lt is always our duty to respond as required of us, so l personally took my bicycle, went and confirmed the incident. On arrival at each of their homes I did not take things for granted but l ethically assessed their situation, shared moments with them. They said they had been screened and diagnosed with cancer at Tororo District Hospital and discharged without any additional help.

Looking at that sad situation in which they were rushed back and picked 2 pairs of crutches and handed them over to each of them. This however made me realize that there is a time for everything in life, a time to walk upright and a time to limp.
